Silent Movie: Clara Bow in 'IT' with Live Musical Accompaniment In-Person
Join us for a special screening of the 1927 classic film IT, with LIVE musical accompaniment!
Shopgirl Betty Lou (played by Clara Bow) has designs on Cyrus Waltham, the handsome owner of the department store where she works. Waltham, though, doesn't even know Betty Lou is around. In hopes of attracting Waltham's attention, she accepts a date with his best friend, Monty, under the condition that they dine at the Ritz, where Waltham also has a dinner date that evening.
Richard Hughes will provide some background on the film and then accompany the film on the piano as we enjoy this silent treasure. Movie snacks will be provided.
About the presenter: As a boy, Richard got hooked on the Keystone comedies shown on public TV and, years later, he learned the “Mood Music” used to accompany silent movies. He is currently traveling throughout New England presenting his programs at libraries, schools, and other venues. These silent films are fun to watch and a great way to experience our past.
